The most important for me is to understand the situation of person seeking advise. First thing is to listen to their concerns, problems and their idea of what they want to achieve. Once their need is specified we work on it trying to find the solution to the problem with all the respect to the people I’m working with, their believes and their situation. Advisory work is an opportunity to learn for both parts. An exchange of experiences is always valuable. It can be a great source of inspiration too. I’m offering to the people I’m advising to all my knowledge and experience but it’s their choice what they will choose from it. I’m not forcing them to do it. Rather informing about possibilities, giving them the tools. As much and as long as they want to. The goal is to help them to become self sufficient and independent. In my advisory work I’m meeting people in person and this is the preferred way of interaction but then I’m usually exchanging loads of emails and phone calls with them.
