When people come to visit Bear River Farms for the first time, it can be overwhelming for them to see the interconnectedness of all the different organs which together build the individuality of our Biodynamic farm. The two most asked questions are usual: Where shall a person start, when everything is interrelated to each other? and.. Can you come and have a look at our property and tell us if we can do the same? We can certainly consult you how to build your individual Biodynamic Farm from the very first step up to Demeter Certification. Our goal is to increase diversified, sustainable and lasting farms that are able to operate for generations. Therefore 5 steps need to be taken: 1. I strongly encourage farmers to take part in the annual study of R. Steiners Agricultural Lectures at Bear River Farms. This is essential to really understand the core insights of what works behind the soil, the plants, the animals and the Biodynamic Preparations. Over the years it has shown, that many participants have had "enlightening" moments and gained a much deeper understanding of what it really means to start, and operate a Biodynamic Enterprise. 2. Together we look at your farm property. We will consider how much, and what kind of Livestock can/should be raised on your farm. How many field crops can be grown. What areas are suitable for vegetable gardens, horticulture, viticulture, bees, pigs etc. We will have a look at existing infrastructure like buildings, fences and machinery. 3. We make a plan. What is essential to start and what can come at a later point in time. What crops can be grown, what animals can be kept. What products can be sold. How can we project future cash flow in order to create a business plan. Financing might be discussed. Buildings might be planned. Machinery might be needed. etc. 4. We get into action: Preparations need to be applied. Buildings will be modified or build. Livestock will be purchased or exchanged. etc. 5. We consider advantages of getting your farm Demeter Certified. If your Farm Products are designed to be exported, a Demeter conversion plan will be needed. We will connect you with an accredited Demeter International advisor who will guide you through this process.

Canadá,
As farmers we need to inaugurate future development into the soil, the plants and the animals realm. Therefore we need to overcome materialism and agriculture and practice farming as artistic act.
